A Decade of Solar Success for Glasdon

Almost ten years after the first solar photovoltaic (PV) panels were installed at Glasdon, the long-term benefits of this investment in renewable energy are evident.

Since their initial installation in 2016, the solar PV systems installed by Glasdon have generated an impressive 2,550,959 kWh of clean electricity up to the end of April 2026. This ongoing production of renewable energy has contributed to the reduction of approximately 452 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, demonstrating the significant role solar power continues to play in the improvement of the company's environmental footprint.

Generating Clean Energy Across All Our Sites

Electricity generation has been delivered across several solar installations located around Glasdon facilities:

  • GH: 253,000 kWh
  • W3 Solis: 1,018,668 kWh
  • W3 SolarEdge: 946,422 kWh
  • U3: 332,869 kWh

Total generation: 2,550,959 kWh

The electricity generated by these systems not only supports Glasdon operations but also contributes to the wider energy network. On average, 52% of the electricity produced is used directly by Glasdon, helping to reduce reliance on grid-supplied electricity. The remaining 48% is exported back to the National Grid, delivering renewable energy to homes and businesses across the UK.

Continued Environmental Benefits

Solar energy remains an important part of the company’s commitment to responsible business practices and reducing carbon emissions.

Based on energy generation for 2024/25, Glasdon solar PV systems now produce approximately 390,847 kWh of electricity per year, including:

  • GH: 25,903 kWh
  • W2 Solis: 134,838 kWh
  • W3 SolarEdge: 146,787 kWh
  • U3: 83,319 kWh

This annual generation equates to carbon savings of around 69 tonnes of CO₂e every year.

Looking ahead, the environmental impact of these installations is expected to grow even further. Over the anticipated 25-year lifespan of the panels, Glasdon estimates they will prevent between approximately 1,600 and 1,725 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, delivering substantial long-term benefits for the environment.

Supporting a More Sustainable Future

The ongoing performance of the Glasdon solar PV systems highlights the value of investing in sustainable technologies that deliver measurable environmental benefits year after year. By generating renewable electricity on-site and contributing surplus energy back to the National Grid, Glasdon continues to take practical steps towards reducing its carbon footprint and supporting a more sustainable future.
